Richard Hardy

Richard M. Hardy was born on November 26, 1962 in Knoxville, TN. He departed this life on December 20, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. He was the fourth child born to the union of the late Claude and Golloree Hardy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hanan (Shaheed) Abdullah, and a brother, Sidney L. Hardy. Richard professed a belief in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined the Church of God in Knoxville, TN.

Richard graduated from Austin-East High School in 1981. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1984 and retired in 2005 with full military honors. During his tenure in the service, he attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. Richard served in numerous positions, earning numerous awards and decorations, such as: Air Force Commendation with 1 device, Air Force Achievement Medal with 3 devices, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Air Force Organizational Excellence Award.

Upon retirement, he was employed with the 341st Air Force Recruiting Squadron.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory, a loving sister, Aleta (Charles) Jones of Memphis, TN, a brother, James Hardy of Huntsville, Alabama, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives. His devoted circle of friends include: Sherman and Priscilla Roberts, Reginald Freeman, and Taneshia Lucas, all of San Antonio, TX; Osborne and Jannette Anderson of Houston, TX, Vic Mosby of Ohio, and Inisclee Hale of Huntsville, Alabama.

A viewing is scheduled from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30 at Schertz Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 2217 F.M. 3009, Schertz, TX 78154. (210) 658-9224. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 10:45 AM, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

We, the family, would like to thank the Summit Hospice for care rendered. We would also like to express gratitude for all prayers, words of comfort, telephone calls, and other expressions of love and kindness shown during our time of bereavement.
