Yvette was born on February 7, 1966 in San Antonio, Texas, to Allen and Linda Keplinger. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School where she was captain of the Varsity Volleyball Team her senior year. She graduated third in her class with honors and earned a full academic scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1988. That same year, she met and fell in love with Ray Medina. They married on Oct. 5, 1991 and went on to have 3 children. In 1989, she joined the United States Air Forces and served honorably for 6 years with the 433 MAW Airlift Command at Lackland AFB. She would continue serving her community as a Bexar County Probation Office for over 23 years.
Yvette spent endless hours supporting her children and their friends in numerous athletics events. She and her husband traveled the country encouraging their respective teams in baseball and softball tournaments in various cities and states. As a youngster and teenager, she played alongside several athletes whose children would later become her children’s teammates and would later go on to coach her own children.
As the oldest daughter of the family, Yvette will fondly be remembered for her incredible hospitality and mama-bear spirit. She and her husband would routinely open their home to celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, weddings and just life in general. She was actively involved in the daily lives of her family, friends, neighbors and extended-softball family. She will be remembered for not only her physical beauty and brilliant smile, but for her zest for life, unselfish heart, joyous laughter and robust sense of humor. She leaves behind her wonderful legacy as embodied by her husband and children and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
