Yen Gonzales

July 1, 1968 — December 22, 2015

After her valiant fight with breast cancer, Yen Thi Morrison Gonzales passed away on December 22, 2015 from Universal City, Texas at the age of 47. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through her 11-year battle with cancer. Yen was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

Yen was born on July 1, 1968 in Saigon, Vietnam. She was the second of three girls. Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life, Yen maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trusts and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy and genuine compassion, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and generosity, will never be forgotten.

After graduating from Samuel Clemens High School in 1986, Yen worked as an ophthalmology technician for Ophthalmology Associates at Nix Hospital. Soon later, she met the love of her life, Michael Gonzales at a co-worker's wedding. On July 14, 2000, Michael and Yen married. Shortly after, Yen gave birth to their loving son, Anthony Michael. As motherhood became a number one priority, she became a devoted stay-at-home mom.

Yen is survived by her husband, Michael A. Gonzales; son, Anthony M. Gonzales; father, James R. Morrison; mother, Tam T. Horinek; step-father, Ramon A. Horinek; sisters, Thoa Adams and Kathy Morrison Jimenez; and many nieces and nephews; Christopher J. Adams, Matthew M. Adams, Emily R. Adams, Jared M. Jimenez, and Sophia E. Jimenez, David Paul Contreras, Dillon Contreras and Desire Contreras. Step brothers and step sisters: Kathryn Martin, Mike Horinek, and Terry Horinek

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 4:00PM-8:00PM with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00PM. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:00AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment it to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
