Winona Grobe

September 22, 1925 — November 27, 2009

Winona Wieding Grobe was born on September 22, 1925 and went to be with the Lord on November 27, 2009, at the age of 84. Winona was a loving wife, caring mother, wonderful grandmother, and a happy great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Nathan A. Grobe, Sr. of Cibolo, Texas, daughter Cindy Serene & husband Gene, daughter Kathy Tackett, daughter Marianna Braden & husband Danny, and son Nathan A. Grobe, Jr.& wife Patricia; 7 grandchildren: Michael Serene, Daniel Braden & wife Kathleen, Sarah Jarzombek & husband Stephen, David Serene, Heather Grobe, Ryan Tackett, and Emily Grobe, and one great-grandchild, Nathan Jarzombek; one brother, Reubin Wieding & wife Dorothy, and one sister, Katherine Wetz. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, and Winona devoted her life to loving them and taking care of them. A longtime member of Highland Park Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Winona taught Sunday School, sponsored the youth group, and directed the Christmas Program. Winona spent the final years of her life struggling with dementia and was a resident at Silver Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Schertz, Texas. Winona was a kind and loving woman who has been and will be missed by all who loved her. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels, Texas.
