Winifred “Winnie” Dick, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, in Live Oak, Texas. Winnie was one of 4 children born to Earle and Phyllis MacDowell on May 10, 1949, in Hyannis Massachusetts.

Winnie graduated from Barnstable High School in Hyannis, Massachusetts and married her sweetheart Larry Dick, in April of 1968. Due to her husband’s career in the USAF, they lived in many different locations in the US and Europe throughout the 1970s and 1980s, until settling in Schertz, Texas, upon Larry’s retirement from the military in 1987.

Winnie and Larry had 2 children together, Larry Jr. (Danny) in 1969 and Wendy in 1972.

Winnie was steadfastly committed to raising her children and supporting her family throughout the many challenges that came with frequent relocations required of a military family, especially during the 1980s.

One of Winnie’s passions was Historical Genealogy. Along with her sisters, she worked for many years on tracing family roots, whereupon they discovered relations to notable figures and events throughout hundreds of years of history.

Winnie is preceded in death by her father Earle, mother Phyllis, husband Larry and daughter Wendy. She is survived by her son’s family (Danny, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandson Anthony, granddaughter Seraph, and great grandson Aizen) as well as her sister Mary Crawford and her family; sister Earlene MacDowell; sister Martha Karras and her family; and many nieces, nephews, and further extended family.

Winnie, as well as her late husband Larry, were extremely private people; however, she was close to some local family and friends who supported her tirelessly, including nephew David Karras, his wife Hee Jin and their children Ethan and Jasmine, as well as friends and neighbors Dang, Gary, Teedaa, Jason, Alison, Glenn, Dinah, Cheryl and Zack, just to name a few.

Winnie’s final arrangements have been entrusted to Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas. She will be laid to rest at the Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit in Cape Cod Massachusetts at a later date.
