William Alexander Scott II, affectionately known as "Chief," departed this world on September 21, 2024, in Cibolo, Texas. Born in San Antonio on October 27, 1967, he was a notable figure whose life was marked by dedication, discipline, and an unyielding commitment to his family and country.
Chief lived a life of service, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 5 after an impressive 34 years in the military. His legacy is etched with honors and accolades, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, among others. These awards reflect not just his bravery and tenacity but also his resolute spirit in the face of adversity and his unwavering diligence in serving his nation.
He was deeply passionate about history and all things military, which further fueled his interest in volunteering and helping others. A devoted family man, Chief found joy in being surrounded by those he loved most. His warm heart was evident in the time he spent with his wife, Theresa A. Sanders, and their beloved children: daughter Avie Murrell and her husband Andre, son Anthony (TJ) Sanders and his wife Michelle, and son Antonio Sanders. Each grandchild—Antuan Sanders, Alijah Murrell, Emma Sanders, Ayanna Murrell, Adrian Sanders, and Mason Sanders—was a source of immense pride and joy for him, embodying the legacy of love and devotion he cherished.
Chief also leaves behind a sister, Shari Jackson, and her husband Elias Jackson Jr., along with cherished nieces and nephews: Elias Jackson III, Isaiah Jackson, and Savannah Jackson. Their bonds symbolize the tight-knit fabric of family that he so greatly valued, and they will carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his father William A. Scott Sr. and mother Sallie A. Conyers, whose spirits now welcome him into eternal rest. In the hills and valleys of Texas, where he drew so much of his strength, love, and inspiration, the echoes of his laughter and kindness resonate, a testament to a life well-lived.
