William Shannon Moffitt was born June 25, 1969 in El Paso, Texas. He passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at age 50. Shannon graduated from Roosevelt High School and later took on the role of being a bank manager. He had to retire early due to medical conditions leaving him disabled.
Even with being disabled it didn’t stop him from being an adamant believer and volunteer with SA Yes by assisting children to excel in their education with the materials they needed. Also, being a man of faith, he devoted himself to events and activities at UC United Methodist Church including: vacation bible school, Third Day Café, and cofounded the backpack ministry. He had a love and calling for artwork such as drawing, crafting with wood, painting, creating flower arrangements, and cooking. Shannon also had a love for animals and treasured taking care of his pets. In his last years he found great enjoyment in participating in comic cons, meeting and becoming a part of peoples lives from all over the country.
He was very family oriented and enjoyed spending any moment he had with his wife and daughter. He was a gentle and kind spirit regardless of anything brought his way, caring for and bringing joy and laughter to anyone he crossed paths with.
Shannon was preceded in death by his grandparents Les and Frances Ashton. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Irene Moffitt; daughter, Kassandra Moffitt; parents, Richard and Sheila Filleman; sister, Kelley McCommons; brother, Mark Deadmond. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Luis and Rose Luitin; brothers-in-law, Louis Luitin and Tony McCommons; sister-in-law; Christy Deadmond; nephews, Alec Deadmond and Josh McCommons; niece, Hailey McCommons.
A Memorial Service will be held at UC United Methodist Church on Friday, June 05, 2020 at 10:00AM (90 Winn Ave, Universal City, TX 78148). The family has requested instead of flowers to donate to his favorite charity SAYes.org (please mention Shannon Moffitt in the comments section of the donation).
