William Davis
October 13, 1956 — January 26, 2011
William A. (Bill) Davis Bill Davis passed away at home in Schertz, TX on January 26, 2011 after a valiant two year struggle with cancer. He leaves behind to mourn the loss his son Billy Davis and fiance Katie, his wife Dawn and her children Calixto, Alina and Heather, his brother Tom Davis and wife Louise and their children Daniel, Eric, Serena and Michelle, his sister Ginni Kennedy and husband Don and their children Philip, Colin, Ryan and Scott, his cousin Joe Stone and wife Marlene, as well as many other relatives and wonderful friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Bill was born on October 13, 1956 to Edward T. and Virginia Davis, in Key West, FL. He grew up in Florida and Texas, graduating from Ray HS in Corpus Christi, TX in 1974 and college in San Marcos, TX in 1980. He made his home in the San Marcos/San Antonio area the remainder of his life. He married Tina Swan in 1980 in San Marcos. That union resulted in what he considered the greatest accomplishment of his life, his son Billy. Anyone who spent much time with Bill knew how incredibly proud he was of the man his son became, which he mostly attributed to the influence of Billys mother. Bill owned and operated several small businesses during and shortly after college until he started working for HUD. It was there that he built the foundation for what would become his career as a mortgage banker. He worked for several companies in the San Antonio area during his long career, forming professional and personal relationships with others in the real estate and mortgage lending business that would last a lifetime. Bill conscientiously maintained his friendships from childhood, high school, college and business regardless of geographical logistics. If you became his friend, you were stuck with him for life. His passions apart from his son and career included fishing, SPURS basketball and bow hunting "ESPECIALLY fishing. Bill was the most avid fisherman weve ever known, riding his bike to the bay in Corpus Christi when he was too young to drive and amazing and delighting our dad when hed show up later with a stringer full of fish hed caught. Many a friend and relative that thought they really liked to fish were broken of that desire by too many very long days spent on a boat with Bill. Bill married Dawn Parker, whom he had known since childhood in Florida, in 2008. She lovingly cared for him through rehabilitation from a stroke in 2008 until the final stages of terminal cancer left him totally dependant on her these past two months. For her selfless love and care of Bill to fulfill his desire to spend his remaining days at home, the family is eternally grateful. A memorial service to celebrate Bills life will be held at Schertz Funeral home on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 2:30PM. His ashes will be scattered in Baffin Bay, one of his favorite fishing spots, later this spring. The family wishes to thank all of Bills wonderful friends for being so loving and supportive these past two trying years, he was so lucky to have each and every one of you. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society to help in the search for a cure of this insidious disease.
