Willadean Land

August 5, 1924 — April 26, 2014

Willadean Land, 89, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. Mrs. Land was born in Gotebo, OK on August 5, 1924. At the age of 9, the family moved from Oklahoma to Weslaco, TX during the depression era. She met and married then Private Harvey A. Land on December 31, 1940. She saw him through two wars and to the rank of Major. Upon retirement, Harvey and Dean, with two daughters, moved to a farm in Cibolo, TX. While in Cibolo, she then blessed Harvey with two more daughters. Deciding four girls and a wife with only one bathroom was too much; Harvey moved the family to Deer Haven in Schertz, TX in May 1969. Mrs. Land is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Sherrey and Larry Brinson; Mary and Jeff Hammond; Debbie and Doug Lester; and Lynn and John Schott. Mrs. Land had 10 grandchildren and their spouses and 9 great-grandchildren. All of her daughters and their families live in the local area. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 9:30AM with Pastor Butch Ikels officiating. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery alongside her husband. Anyone so desiring may make memorial contributions to Galactosemia Foundation Research Fund, P.O.
