Wilfred James Dean, Jr.

In loving memory of Wilfred James Dean Jr, known by Jimmy to all his family and friends, was born on March 14th, 1944. Residing in Schertz, Texas, he passed away on July 15th, 2023, at the age of 79. In his final days, he was surrounded by close family. Jimmy was raised by Maxine and Wilfred Dean in McAllen, Texas. His family was close knit, and Jimmy grew up with strong family values and an amazing work ethic. Jimmy was a fun-loving child and teenager with a wild spirit for adventure. Many entertaining stories have been shared through the years by family, friends, and occasionally by Jimmy himself.

In his early twenties, Jimmy met Molly, the love of his life. Together they recently celebrated their “55th” wedding anniversary. Jimmy experienced a long and rewarding career working as a biologist for Texas Parks and Wildlife. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, sports, and gardening. Jimmy loved attending lunch and events with his buddies in the San Antonio Sportsman’s club.

Jimmy’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to show his support and love for them. He always would write something special in cards or notes. Jimmy will be remembered for his large capacity to love and his thoughtful nature.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Molly, his daughter, Lisa, and her husband Rick, and his son, James, and his wife Carin. Additionally, his grandchildren Alec, Hannah, Joshua, Kristin, and Lauren.

There will be a Memorial Service held for Jimmy at Schertz Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Jimmy's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Boysville, Inc. in Converse, TX, or to a charity of your choice.
