Wilbur Dean Wells, age 88, entered into rest September 9th 2014. Wil is preceded in death by his parents, Reasoner Wells and Lela Cook. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Edith Wells; step-son, Michael Milligan;step-daughter, Vickie Kabanek and her husband, Joe; grandchildren,Joseph Kabanek, Dawn Rose, and Jared Kabanek; as well as six great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Kabanek, Megan Rose, Kaelee Kabanek, Stephen Kabanek, Dallas Rose, and Rylan Kabanek. Wilbur was born January 23, 1926 in Morrisonville, IL to Reasoner and Lela Wells. Surviving a near fatal construction accident just days before he was scheduled to enter the military in World War II, Wil spent his working years in the oil business as a successful independent oilman in llinois managing world-wide investments in the wells he developed. Moving to the San Antonio area with Edith in 1994 to be near family, he continued his career but found much joy in his grandchildren and ever-growing family of great-grandchildren. He sang in a barbershop quartet in the the 40's and 50's, a talent which he brought to his family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike. Wilbur's story-telling talents and singing were legendary within the family. Friends and family alike enjoyed listening to Wil regale them with stories of "the olden days".Wil's last two years of life were spent living in New Forest Estates with Edith, where he continued his story-telling and gained new friends all of whom enjoyed his tales. Wilbur will be missed by family and friends. Visitation will be at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, TX, from 5:30 to 7:00PM, Tuesday, September 16th 2014. Services follow at 1:00PM, Wednesday, September 17th 2014.
