On Sunday, April 23, 2017, our beloved Wendy Mary (Chilton) Hodge went to be with the Lord. She was in no pain and was surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren in the comfort of her home.
Wendy was born in Chalfont St. Peter, Buckinghamshire, England on January 28, 1939. She came to America in 1960 and became a U.S. citizen on March 23, 1967. One day in 1976, her car broke down and a handsome gentleman stopped to help her. He asked for her number so he could call to make sure everything was okay. After multiple calls to "check up on her car", he finally got the nerve to ask her out on a date. On February 14, they went to dinner at the Tower of Americas. To say it was love at first sight would be an understatement. On May 28, 1976, he married her and her four children and, as they say, the rest is history.
She left a lasting impact on all she met. She loved spending hours in her garden, traveling with her husband, listening to the waves as she walked along the beach, taking on the world in her high heels, going to plays at the Majestic, and spending time with her beloved family.
She lived a long, happy life surrounded by people who loved her deeply. As she would say, "oh, look at little ‘ole me and my big ‘ole family." "Grams" beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of those who adored her: her husband of 41 years, Richard Hodge; son Dale Pearson, son Craig Pearson, daughter Kathy (Pearson) Riley and husband Vann, daughter Dawn "P'Nut" (Pearson) Nickle and husband Mark; 8 grandchildren: Tyler Fuller and husband Brandon, Clint Pearson and wife Tara, Trey Stephens and wife Katie, Madison Pearson, Bailey Riley, Tucker Stephens and wife Ashley, Shelby Riley and Logan Riley; 8 great-grandchildren: Ian and Mackenzie Fuller, Abby, Emma, Molly and Ryan Stephens, and Hagen and Pearson Stephens; and her many dear friends and extended family here and "across the pond".
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Schertz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Guadalupe County Humane Society at 2484 N State Highway 46 Seguin, TX 78155.
