Wayne Lee Flowers

December 5, 1944 – February 26, 2025

St. Hedwig, Texas

Wayne Lee Flowers, 80, of St. Hedwig, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Born to Bertie Lynn Kelley Flowers and Lee Flowers, Wayne grew up with a strong sense of adventure and an unmatched ability to bring laughter to any room. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley Flowers Claycomb; his beloved son, Duane Lee Flowers; and his son-in-law, Steven Michael Drayton. He is survived by his siblings, Brenda Flowers and Melvin Flowers; his daughter, Donna Flowers Drayton; his daughter-in-law, Sara Rodgers Flowers; and his cherished grandchildren, Bailey Drayton Krudwig (Bobby Krudwig, son-in-law), Bryan Drayton, and Christopher Gilligan, along with numerous great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.

Wayne was a proud graduate of Alamo Heights High School and, immediately upon graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Navy. His sharp eye and steady hand led him to success in shooting competitions, a skill that remained with him throughout his life. An avid hunter, Wayne found peace and excitement in the outdoors, always ready for the next adventure. His favorite place on Earth was what he lovingly called his ranch, The Cactus Patch, where he felt truly at home.

He dedicated over 40 years of service as a truck driver for Central Freight Lines, where his commitment to safety earned him numerous awards. His work ethic was as strong as his mischievous spirit—he was always ready with a joke or a prank, keeping those around him on their toes. Though his temper could flare quickly, it faded just as fast, making way for his ever-present humor and warmth.

Wayne valued his friendships deeply, keeping lifelong bonds that stood the test of time. He met and loved Elizabeth Castro and her entire family, who never failed to show their love in return. He lived life on his own terms, embracing every moment with humor and grit.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the legacy of love and adventure he leaves behind.
