Wanda Vela

August 14, 1961 — October 9, 2014

Wanda Sue Vela was born August 14, 1961 to Baldemar and Maria Vela in Laredo, Texas and passed away October 9, 2014 in Schertz, Texas. Wanda was a superlative example of a mother. Every decision she made was to the benefit of her children. In 1984 she dedicated her life to a faithful service as one of Jehovah's witnesses for thirty years until her death. Her unwavering faith in Jehovah Gods promises helped her to cope with the many trials she faced. She showed us what it meant to be courageous, joyful, and loyal. She also selflessly cared for and helped many others through their difficult times. She lived her life appreciating every moment she spent with those she loved. Whether she was sharing in the ministry, grabbing a nice meal, stopping at yard sales or thrift stores, or just sharing a sweet dessert, she appreciated life. Wanda was previously married for 32 years to Reynaldo A. Castillo. This union brought them four wonderful children. Unfortunately, she was preceded in death by her oldest son Reynaldo Castillo Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Ann Campos and husband Abraham, Brenda Lee Teeter, and husband, Donovan; her son, Roy Castillo; her six brothers, Baldemar Jr, Oscar, and wife, Delia, Richard, Ruben, and wife, Nellie, Javier, and wife, Laura, Raul, and wife, Estella; and three sisters, Bertha Medina, Veronica Davila, Leticia Wagener, and husband, Mike. We would like to thank all who have shown their support during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation on Friday October 17, 2014 from 4p.m. - 9p.m. at Schertz Funeral Home followed by cremation. A memorial talk will be given on Saturday October 18, 2014 at 4p.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 23 Dobie Blvd. Cibolo, TX. 78108 Her remains will be joined with her son on October 21, 2014 at Holy Cross Cemetery located at 17501 Nacogdoches Rd.
