Walter Shifflett

Walter Bubby Clarence Shifflett born on January 12, 1947, passed away on April 15, 2012 at the age of 65. Walter is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Shifflett and sister, Gloria Shifflett. He is survived by his wife, Rosalinda Shifflett; children Tammi & Ron Parthemore, Mary & Tracy Sample, Darrell & April Shifflett; 9 grandchildren Brittany, Courtney, Kayla, Taylor, Jake, Victoria, Alexis, Todd and Kelsey. He is also survived by his father, Dennis Shifflett and 5 siblings Denny, Joanne, Ray, Gary and Greg. Born in Illchester, MD, Walter lived in Anne Arundel County until he moved to Cibolo, TX in 2006. He served 19 months in Vietnam before returning to the U.S. and working 30 years for Acme and Giant Bakeries. Walter contributed 15 years of his life volunteering for Laurel Boys and Girls Club and Maryland City Recreational League coaching and mentoring children of all ages. Unwilling to remain retired, Walter spent 10 years working for Sams Club. As a food demonstrator for the last 2 years at Sams Club, he enjoyed joking around with his customers and co-workers! Walter will forever be remembered by his family and friends for his impeccable character. He possessed unmeasured loyalty to his family and friends. Walter, through his endearing personality was able to make you smile by either telling a funny story, or poking fun at his own life experiences. Walter C. Shiffletts passing has left a huge void in all of our hearts which cannot be filled but we can all honor him by trying to live our lives like he did, by treating everyone we meet with respect and dignity. We love you! Visitation will be at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 5:00pm-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
