Virginia Anna Jarzombek

Virginia Anna Jarzombek passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, in San Antonio TX. She was born October 31, 1934, in Alamo TX and graduated in 1952 from McAllen High School. She married the love of her life Stanley Joseph Jarzombek in 1954. They were married for 54 years, living in McAllen, TX until 1985 before moving to Pleasanton TX where Stanley passed away in 2008. Virginia was a substitute teacher and aide at Our Lady of Sorrows School in McAllen for 10 years, and a beloved Girl Scout leader. She was a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Mission and later for Scurlock Oil in Charlotte. Virginia was devoted to her Catholic faith and family. She was an active volunteer at Our Lady of Sorrows Church & School in McAllen and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. She was a member of Catholic Daughters for over 25 years. Virginia and Stanley owned & operated J’s Package Store in Pleasanton from 1995 to 2006. After Stanley died, Virginia moved to New Braunfels and then to Schertz to be closer to her children & grandchildren. In 2021 she moved to St Francis Nursing Home in San Antonio. 

Leaving a legacy Virginia is survived by her eight children, Joe (Sharyn) Jarzombek of Canyon Lake, Janelle (Del) Ryan of Austin, Judy (Richard) Schuckenbrock of San Antonio, Stephanie (Floyd) Clester of New Braunfels, Billy (Tracy) Jarzombek of Laredo, Therese (Billy) Platts of New Braunfels, Barbara (Troy) Esquivel of Richmond, and Sandy (Trey) Tschoepe of Trophy Club. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Albert of New Orleans, LA as well as 16 grandchildren, Devin Ryan of Austin, Courtney (Andy Hoke) Ryan of Austin, James (Sarah) Schuckenbrock of San Antonio, Stephanie (Jason) Brooks of Bulverde, Sarah (Tyler Webber) Clester of Seguin, Kelsi Campos of Keller, Kristi (Joey) Cortez of San Antonio, Katie Jarzombek of Katy, Blake Platts of New Braunfels, Elizabeth Platts of New Braunfels, Taylor Esquivel of Katy, Nicole Esquivel of Richmond, Megan (Alex) Larson of Fort Worth, Jared Tschoepe of Trophy Club, Brendon (Danielle) of North Richland Hills, Hallie Tschoepe of Trophy Club, and 10 great-grandchildren, Vanyel Schuckenbrock, Lily Schuckenbrock, Ellie Schuckenbrock, Aidan Brooks, MacKenzie Brooks, Harleigh Brooks, Kasidi Cortez, Katalina Cortez, Waylon Esquivel, and Penny Larson. Preceding her in death are her parents Louisa & Stephen Pfeifer, four brothers, Stephen Pfeifer, Jr., Father James Pfeifer, OMI, Ronald Pfeifer, and Charles Pfeifer; and five sisters, Frances Trcalek, Mary Pawlik, Ruth Taliaferro, Lucille Meyer, and Catherine Haden, and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Schuckenbrock.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schertz Funeral and Crematory in Schertz TX. Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2024 at Schertz Funeral Home located at 2217 FM 3009 Schertz, Texas 78154,  beginning at 5:00 PM with a Remembrance/Tribute session at 6:30PM followed by the reciting of the Holy Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 to take place at Schertz Funeral Home at 2:00PM with her cousin, Bishop Michael Pfeifer, OMI as the main celebrant. Burial will follow at the St Andrew’s Cemetery No 2, Corgey Rd, Pleasanton, TX. Pall bearers are Virginia’s grandsons. The family would like to thank the Seraphic Sisters at St. Francis Nursing home, Dr. Prange, and all of Virginia’s caregivers. Their love and kindness will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to St. Francis Nursing Home, 630 W. Woodlawn Ave, San Antonio TX 78212.
