Virginia Carrasquillo Guzman, 93, of Garden Ridge, Texas passed away on October 7, 2024.

Virginia was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on December 24, 1930, where she was raised by her grandmother until she was 16 when she moved to Chicago. There she met and married her husband of 67 years, Hector Guzman.

As a young woman, Virginia loved to crochet and cook for her friends and family, who always looked forward to her exquisite Puerto Rican dishes.

Virginia had a deep Christian faith and carried her Bible in her purse wherever she went. She was a beacon of light and comfort for her family and friends and never complained about even the smaller troubles in life. 

Virginia is survived by her younger sister, Mercedes Flores; eldest daughter, Miriam Guzman, son, George Guzman, and youngest daughter Iris Westphall; grandchildren, Lori Salisbury, Adam Guzman, Kristen Duverge, Lacie Guzman, Melanie Roffle, Janis Guzman, and Kleighton Westphall; great-grandchildren, Jordan Salisbury, Lynn Salisbury, Olivia Roffle, Laci Roffle, Mackenzee Sosias, Ashley Archuletta, Annabelle Duverge, and Sofia Duverge; great-great-grandchildren, Abigail and Riley Archuletta, . Virginia is also survived by her furry friend of many years, her dachshund, Fisher.

Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Hector Guzman, her sister Francisca Carrasquillo, her sons Louie and Roy Guzman, and her granddaughter Gina Ortiz.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the selfless, loving and caring team at Hope Hospice who aided in the care of Virginia for the past year.
