Vernice Guinn aka "Vernell", and affectionately known as "Boosie" was born on July 20, 1953 to the union of McKinley Lewis Henry and Willie Ree Hill in Phenix City, AL. Although Vernice spent her childhood growing up in Alabama, by the age of 19 she had relocated to San Antonio, TX.
Vernice was a graduate of Central High School in 1971 and completed some college. At Central is where she met her childhood sweetheart and long time companion, Cecil Ellis Guinn, where the two were married in March 1972 and raised two daughters. In 1976, Vernice began working for Motorola in Seguin, TX during her early years of employment however, she spent the majority of her career as a Medical Assistant Home Health Aid professional. Her passion as a caregiver of others both personally and professionally was a true testament of how much she loved and cared for people. During those years, she had developed heartfelt relationships with her clients and their families. And especially held a sincere connection with the elderly.
Vernice accepted Christ into her life at an early age and has been a member of Resurrection Baptist Church since 1984. She was one of the original members of the mass choir and has served on the Deaconess Ministries Board for over three decades.
Vernice Guinn departed this life on Sunday, January 13, 2019. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Willie Ree Henry.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Cecil Guinn of Schertz, TX, daughters Charmease Canty (Paul) of Austell, GA, Shawndra Ervin of Converse, TX; father, McKinley Lewis Henry of Phenix City, AL; brothers John Henry (Marilyn) of Katy, TX, McKinley "Bill" Henry (Betty) of Moreno Valley, CA, Bruce Person of Columbus, GA, Antonio Henry of Phenix City, AL, Sherman Henry of Cottonton, AL, James English (Carolyn) of Columbus, GA; sisters, Tricia Daniel (Frank) of Pittsview, AL, Letha Madison of Lawrenceville, GA; Belinda Bolden (Jerry) of Cottonton, AL; grandchildren, Devyn, Ke'Sean Guinn, Ja'nae; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
