TSgt. Roberto Ruiz Perez, U.S. Air Force Reserves, Retired, of Cibolo, was born in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico on November 11, 1946 and passed away November 1, 2008 at the age or 61. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia D. Ruiz; daughters, Chelsea Vann Ruiz Perez, Dennissee Ruiz Davila of Dallas, Yadizta Ruiz Davila and Bethsaida Ruiz Davila, both of Puerto Rico and brother, Angel Ruiz Perez of Trujuillo Alto, Puerto Rico. He lived in New York during his youth whereby he attended school and helped his parents in their family- owned bakery. He was brought back to Puerto Rico at 14 years old where he finished high school and college. He received a degree in education at the young age of 22. He also joined ROTC and went on to serve in several branches of the military receiving honors, medals, and other recommendations during his 33 years of service. He retired last year as a life time reservist serving in the 74 APS at Kelly USA/Lackland AFB. He went on many assignments with the service his last being in 2002 in Saudi Arabia. He was preceded in death by his parents Angel Ruiz and Carmen Ruiz Perez of Puerto, Rico. In addition to his daughters, he has three beautiful grandchildren Paola, Natalia, and Gerado Andres of PR. Roberto taught school in Puerto, Rico close to 20 years, eventually coming to the states and teaching an additional 13 years. He loved his students dearly and would try and help them in any way he could. He also received a technical degree in refrigeration (HVAC) at a young age and would subsequently open up his own business in Puerto Rico before moving to the states permanently. At an early age, he attended catholic school and gave his life to GOD. The past several years he has been attending Cornerstone Church. He was a member of the Spanish Heritage Society. He had a strong identification with his Spanish roots. Roberto was an avid lover of Salsa and Merengue music and loved to sing and dance. He was a man of courage and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed studying the word of GOD at home with his family and in the Lord's house. Roberto had a big heart and now he is sharing that heart with his Father in heaven. He is enjoying the peace, joy, and promises the LORD gave us in His covenants. We don't always know that our lives have been touched by angels until GOD receives them back into HIS Graces. We were blessed to have had this angel in our lives. Our lives are much richer to have known you Papi. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. Romans 14:8. Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Ps.25:1. "Senor, que descubra mi soledad para luego poder colaborar contigo en la salvacion del mundo." We love you Papi so go on and fly high. Graveside Services, with military honors, will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
