Travis Clarence Gibbs

Travis Clarence Gibbs went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 6, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Travis was born in Runnels County, Texas to Clarence Robert and Adene Feeler Gibbs. He was the second of six children. He had a long career in the grocery business and retired from HEB Food Store in Kerrville, Texas at the age of 62 due to failing health.
Travis became a Christian at the age of 12 and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas where he met his wife of 65 years, Gwen Gibbs. They were married in Silver Texas in 1951. They settled in Kerrville, Texas where Travis became a deacon in 1973 at First Baptist Church, Kerrville.
Travis and Gwen were blessed with three children, Sharon, Ted and Sandy, which were his pride and joy along with his 5 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Travis became a Master Mason in San Angelo, Texas in 1955. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gatesville.
Travis is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Adene Gibbs, his brother, J. E. Gibbs, and his daughter, Sharon Gibbs Thorman.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Gibbs, his children, Ted (wife Debbie) of Cibolo Texas, Sandy Gately (husband Paul) of Gatesville Texas, son-in-law, Mike Thorman of Kingsland Texas, his brothers, Wesley Gibbs and Presley Gibbs, sisters, Dena Jirasek and Bobbie Alberts of San Angelo Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, 5 grandchildren: Ty, Richard, and Eric Thorman, Melissa Gibbs Hammock and Shawn Gibbs, and numerous great grandchildren,
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Northridge Baptist Church 2447 W. FM 2105 San Angelo Texas at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
