Tommy Jones

April 16, 1939 — May 26, 2015

Tommy Darryl Jones was born on April 16, 1939, in Stamford, TX, passed away on May 26, 2015, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 76. Tommy worked himself from roughneck to superintendent, while working in the Oil industry for 25 years, after which he was a successful business owner for 24 years till his retirement at the age of 72. He always had a great love for his family and friends. Tommy had many hobbies some being fishing, hunting, scuba diving, skiing, but had to give them up due to his health. Then he got into trying to fix things, gadgets, and all types of odds and ends. He loved traveling to different countries, was very adventurous and was never scared to try new things. Just lately he enjoyed meeting up with his high school buddies through the internet, and also became very interested in history through his brother's advice to watch historical shows and DVDs. He never met a stranger, always had a wonderful sense of humor, and had an uncanny ability to reason. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Arbury Jones and Hazel Dorothy Jones Armstrong; and son, Eddy Jones. He is survived by his loving wife Joan, children, Jimmy Jones, Deanna (Steve) Preuss, and Brenda Barrett; grandchildren, Nicole, Michelle, Kristen, Jennifer, and Mitchell; and his brother, Col. Buck (Donna) Jones. He is also survived by his nephew Glen, cousins, three great-grandchildren and extended family in Norway, Scotland, Dubai, and many friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Schertz Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, 2015, at 2:00pm, after which all services will conclude.
