Thomas (Tom) Hiram Williams 81 Schertz TX passed peacefully on Feb 21 2025.
Born September 7 1943 in Blanco Texas (in what was originally the courthouse, appropriately enough) to SA & Virgil Williams, Tom Williams was a man who simply defied summation, and as such, this is bound to be lacking. His was a big life, filled with travel and adventure, unflagging love for his wife and family, service to his country (army), driving race cars from Le Mans to Daytona to tracks all across Texas, hunting (mostly deer), flying small planes (to make it easier to go hunting), love of all animals - his pets ran the gamut from dogs/cats to rescued squirrels and pigs, running his salvage yard and rebuilding cars, developing real estate, and standing up for people who weren’t able to stand up for themselves. He made quite an impression on those who knew him, particularly with his robust sense of humor (which he retained to the very end) and gifted storytelling (many of those stories of his own exploits) which usually made him the life of the party. He was incredibly self-reliant and could fix or engineer just about anything. His temper was legendary, but he was paradoxically cool and decisive under pressure. Always willing to lend a hand when folks were in need, whether that was something as simple as fixing their car or as complex as taking them in and giving them a home. In this modern age of acronyms the one that best applies to him was IYKYK, if you know you know, and for those of us who knew and loved him that may say it best.
Tom is survived by his wife of 59.5 years Cathy Williams, daughter Shay Williams, honorary son Jose Vasquez and wife Eloisa and their children Ana, Caylee, Isabella, Raylissa, & Jose Jr., his brother Wendell Williams & wife Welda and their children Nicole & Ben Fitts, Matt & Reagan Williams, & Blake and Randi Williams, brother Lyndon Williams, sister Irene & Andy White, honorary sisters Ginger Schneider & Jeannette Albrecht, and countless extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Roy Williams and his parents SA & Virgil Williams.
