Therese Brodeur

August 12, 1927 — March 17, 2013

Therese Parmelie (Paul) Brodeur of Schertz died quietly on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Northeast Methodist Hospital. She was 85. Therese was born on August 12, 1927 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Joseph and Hermance Paul. Her parents and a sister, Julie, preceded her in death. She married Donald Joseph Brodeur on April 7, 1947. During their 55 years together, they had many adventures, including moving from Massachusetts to several other cold climates, until they settled in the San Antonio area in the late 1950s. Donald preceded her in death in 2002. Therese is survived by her three children, Ronald and his wife, Lynne, of San Antonio, Susan and her life partner, Robin, also of San Antonio and Peter and his wife, Wanda, of Austin. Her grandchildren include Mica Roth, Ronda Roth Dexter, Ashley Brodeur and Adam Brodeur. She also has two great-grandsons, Liam Watson and Cole Dexter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Therese was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and in the past years had attended both Good Shepherd and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in the Schertz area. She loved to bake cookies, brownies and pumpkin bread, especially for her children and grandchildren. She loved chocolate and tried to have some every day! Therese enjoyed reading. Her children all commented on what a strong woman she was and they enjoyed her good sense of humor. The family would like to thank the staff at Northeast Methodist Hospital and Esplanade Gardens. Additionally, they would like to thank Dr. Nasir Syed and Dr. Julio Arraujo for their wonderful treatment of Therese during the past few years. Special thanks go to Dana Reid and Robin Hitchens for their wonderful friendship and care they shared with Therese. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 5:00pm- 8:00pm, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm at Schertz Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, March 22, 2013, 10:00am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with Graveside Service to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Nacogdoches Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Thereses memory to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
