Thad Wesley Ohnesorge

April 8, 1973 — March 2, 2025

Thad Wesley Ohnesorge, loving son and brother, was called to the Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2025. He was born on April 8, 1973, to parents Harry R. Ohnesorge III and Katherine Ohnesorge in San Antonio, Texas.

Thad grew up on the family ranch in Floresville and later bought a home near Converse, close to his mother Katherine, where at any moment, a fresh batch of her special chicken gizzards, that he enjoyed so much, could miraculously show up courtesy of his mom.

An avid tennis player in his early years, Thad reveled in the family matches he had with his father, Harry, and brothers Robb and Fred, some of which were legendary.

Thad was fastidious by nature, whether it be a home improvement, from fencing to air conditioning, or an auto repair, from water pumps to window switches, he took great pride in “doing it himself,” and he was great at it.

This attitude and ability played a large role in Thad’s professional life and contributed to his success, beginning at Alexander Engineering, and culminating at City Public Service.

A hard worker with a penchant for details, Thad began on the ground floor in the electric shop learning the basics of the industry. Eventually, he progressed to pole testing and REA inspections. His attention to detail and work ethic saw him elevate to the position of Electrical Distribution Designer. He was then offered and accepted a position at City Public Service, where both his great-grandfather and father had retired from, continuing the legacy.

Good natured, kind, and caring, with a great sense of humor, Thad was liked by all who met him and loved greatly by his family. He was an old soul who collected Marilyn Monroe memorabilia and listened to Elvis.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ohnesorge; they are surely on the tennis court enjoying another great match.

Thad is survived by his mother, Katherine Ohnesorge; his father, Harry R. Ohnesorge III; brother Fred Ohnesorge (Elizabeth); nieces Isabella and Camilla Ohnesorge; Aunt Shirley Huckelba; Uncle Tommy Huckelba; and cousins John and Pete Huckelba.

“Thad, we love and miss you very much.”

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 10 a.m., in Mission Park South in San Antonio.
