Sylvia Rodriguez

Sylvia Rodriguez, who loved to be called "Nana" by her grandkids, departed her loving family on February 2, 2024 at the young age of 77. She was surrounded by her loving family when she gained her wings. Sylvia began her life in Houston, Texas on September 15th, 1946 and was raised by her mother Margarita (Esparza) Vallejo and her father Severo Vallejo in New Braunfels, Texas. She was a graduate of New Braunfels High School Class of '64. In 1969, while standing in a wedding, she met Alvino Rodriguez. After catching his eye with her Green '69 Charger, he would become the love of her life and they would marry. In 1981, after making a lifelong commitment of adoption, they would become the BEST mother and father to their daughter Yvette Renee Rodriguez.

Sylvia worked Civil Service Personnel for Randolph AFB and retired after working many years. In her 77 years of life, Sylvia made hundreds of friends along the way. Anyone who crossed paths with her would describe her as one of a kind. She had a smile that in its own way, could turn on a small light in a dark room. She welcomed all into her house and loved making memories with family and friends. She loved making jokes and laughing "just because" it filled her heart with joy. Sylvia would also become a second mom to many of her daughter's friends. Her love for people was never ending. Sylvia found joy in baking, cooking, gardening, trying new places to eat, and loving her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Alvino Rodriguez, her parents Severo and Margarita Vallejo. She is survived by her daughter Yvette Rodriguez-Tedtaotao and son in law- Ben Tedtaotao, Grandkids, Sage Rodriguez and his wife Mari Rodriguez, Hailey Rodriguez, Mae Lynn Rodriguez, Jesiah Rodriguez, Leliah Rodriguez, and Kiah Rodriguez, Great grandchildren, Nayeli Junco, Giovanni Rodriguez and Baby Daniel Reyes, Jr.

We are all stories in the end, remembered by the adventures we had, the achievements we made and the people we loved. Her story was a good one.

There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever we are, She will always be in our hearts. We love you momma...

A Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:30 AM, followed by the Graveside Service at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
