Susanne Kristine Koob

Susanne Kristine Koob, age 74, of Garden Ridge, TX formerly of Orono, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by family after a short but brave battle with cancer. She was born on January 21,1950 at the Rantoul (IL) Air Force Base.

Susanne graduated from North Park Academy (Class of 1968) in Chicago. She also is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and received her Masters of Education Degree from Northeastern Illinois University. She devoted her working life as a special education teacher in Chicago and Minneapolis. As an educator she had many positive impacts on the lives of her students and many had kept in touch with her over the years. She had the ability to transform lives by inspiring her students.

After retiring in 2015 she moved to Texas to be closer to family. She had a big heart and spent much of her time helping her mother and other family members through health issues. 

Susanne loved her family, friends and her life. She taught her granddaughters to read and also passed along some of her baking skills. She loved to travel and visited many countries. She enjoyed reading with her cats curled on her lap. She consistently walked 6 miles daily while talking to her son Jeffrey until her illness prevented it in early June. Susanne was an amazing wife, mom, grandmother and friend and her love for life will be forever in our hearts.

Susanne is survived by her husband of 52 years, John P. Koob III, of Garden Ridge, TX, her children John (Suzanne) P. Koob IV, Eric J. Koob and Jeffrey M. Koob of San Antonio, TX. Three grandchildren; Ava Grace Koob, Hazel Sophia Koob and John Peter Koob V. Susanne was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Jean and John H. Miller.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at the San Antonio Botanical Garden on October 17.
