Susan Sheeran

Susan M. Sheeran passed away in San Antonio on September 9, 2015. She was born on May 5, 1948 in Los Angeles, California, to Dr. Cline and Amelia Mapes. Her parents preceded her in death. Susan is survived by Edward, her husband of 47 years; sons, Neal and Peter; daughters-in-law Cheryl and Kathryn; grandchildren, Braden and Ainsley; and sisters, Diane, Tracy and Marian Mapes. Susan was a stay at home mom and Air Force wife. She managed superbly the myriad of family details that went with 18 moves as the Air Force assignment process moved them about the country for 28 years. She became a leader and confidant to many other service wives as they dealt with the challenges faced by military families. Susan was a master of the sewing arts and an avid reader of mystery novels and police procedurals. She loved animals, especially her dogs, and was an avid backyard birdwatcher. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be a private gathering of family and friends with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Animal Defense League of San Antonio.
