It is with great sadness that the family of Susan “Su” Andrews, 77, of New Braunfels, Texas announces her passing on Thursday, October 25th, 2024.
Su was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 23, 1947 to Robert and Frances Carlson. She graduated from York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She married James Andrews at The Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 25, 1973. During the 32 years they were married, Jim and Su enjoyed adventures such as living overseas in England and Germany and then settling in south Texas where they owned and operated The UPS Store in Schertz. Wherever they relocated, Su created with such ease a beautiful, warm, and welcoming home filled with love and lots of laughter.
In 2001, she submitted samples of her miniatures to be evaluated and earned the designation of “Fellow” by The International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA), an organization which recognizes and honors highly qualified artists.
Her “home away from home” was Homestead Handicrafts where she continued her work as an extraordinarily talented artisan with an impeccable eye for detail and design.
Su was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a beloved friend to many. Her continuous bright smile, generous spirit, and unbeatable sense of humor will be missed deeply.
Su is survived by her daughter Heather Dunlap (Rob) of Bailey, Colorado ; son Timothy Andrews of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Jordan, Carson, Avery, and Alex; siblings, Linda Martin, Robin Dahl (Don), and Todd Carlson (Lara); nephew, Richard; nieces, Stephanie, Gabrielle, Rachel, and Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Andrews; parents, Robert and Frances Carlson; grandson, Clayton Andrews; and beloved pet, Cooper “Coopy.”
