Steven Slater

August 20, 1963 — December 12, 2011

Steven returned home to be with our Lord on December 12, 2011. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother and friend. He was born at Otis A.F.B. in MA and lived on Cape Cod, MA, Biloxi, MS, St. Louis, MO, Charleston, SC, Universal City and San Antonio, TX. Steve was the one who always made the family laugh, wore a smile and said everything would be OK no matter what. He was the one who could hit a baseball over the fence, catch a football in midair, do a layup with the ease of Michael Jordan and drive the ball like a Tiger Woods. Steven loved life and people. He graduated from Samuel Clemens High School and graduated from UTSA. We were so proud of his academic prowess. After graduation he started off as working as an accountant for an Insurance Company, Controller for a couple of companies, and then many years for MUSAK in San Antonio. Steven is preceded in death by his wife, Jan Sheedy Slater who passed away earlier this year and his father, Lt. Col. Stanley Slater ten years earlier. We know his wife Jan and his Dad will be there to greet and hug him with our Lord and he will not be alone. He was loved by everyone who knew him and he will be dearly missed. Our Family Circle is not broken, it is just a little bit wider now as you, Steven, are a new star in the sky. He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Slater of Las Vegas, NV; sisters and their families: Sheryl Slater Gibson and husband Mark of St. Petersburg, FL; Sharon Slater Haecker and husband Gerald of Converse, TX and children Dawn Haecker Southwell and husband Mark of Schertz, TX, Justin of Houston, TX and Nichole; Sandra Slater Brewer and husband Joe of Houston, TX and children Diane, Heather, and Rachel in college at Killeen, TX.; brother Scott and his wife Kim of Grapevine, TX and daughter Averey and numerous nieces and nephews. Come Celebrate his life with his family and friends at a Memorial Mass at The Church of The Good Sheppard in Schertz, TX on Thursday, December 29th at 10:00 AM.
