Steven Sanwald

Steven John Sanwald, age 40 of San Antonio, TX, returned home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 16, 2011. Steven was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother and friend. He had a very big heart and loved his children and family dearly. Steven was loved by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Marie Sanwald; father, John F. Sanwald and mother, Grace Helfer and their spouses, Rossy Sanwald and Paul Helfer; grandfather, Donald M. MacDonald; children, Steven Paul Sanwald, Katelyn Arlene Sanwald, John Andrew Sanwald; siblings, Lorraine Ann Gonzales and husband, Steven J., Emil Helfer; Gaby Atkinson and family; uncle, Lawrence MacDonald and Sharyn Stern; aunt, Phyllis Doyle and husband, Joseph; and cousins, Kristin Doyle, Emily and Dolores MacDonald and Kim Bennett and many cherished friends. Steven proudly started his career in law enforcement as a corrections/peace officer for 6 years. After which he proudly served his country for 14 years as a federal law enforcement officer working with immigration customs enforcement agency (ICE). After 9/11, he joined the Federal Air Marshalls, stationed in New Jersey, for one year, then returned to Texas to resume his employment with ICE. Steven will be dearly missed and remembered in all our hearts and memories forever until we one day are together again. We will love you always Steven. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Schertz Funeral Home with the Funeral Service set to begin at 5:00 PM. All services will conclude at the funeral home on Saturday.
