Steve Ferree

May 27, 1931 — October 12, 2020

Steve Allen Ferree passed away October 12th, 2020 peacefully at home in Schertz, Texas. He was born May 27th, 1931 in Clinton, Illinois to Harrold Ferree and Virgie Coulson. On May 29th, 1960, he married Loretta Jane Linder in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was a father to a daughter, Renee Jo Harvey, and a son, Terry Lee Ferree.

Steve served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and was a Master Sergeant for the Air Force Reserve until 1971. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Penn College on May 25th, 1959. He spent his career as a teacher of Mathematics and Science for the Benton Community School District from 1961 to 1993. He was remembered for his kindness, patience, and generosity. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, coin collecting, watching sports and western movies, doing puzzles, and attending live music concerts. He also enjoyed as hobbies being a carpenter, an avid reader of mystery/ crime novels, a meticulous investor, and a cat whisperer.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta on January 19th, 2004. He is survived by daughter, Renee; son-in-law, Ken; son, Terry; daughter-in-law, Mindy; four grandchildren, Erin, Hannah, Breanna and Taylor; one great-granddaughter, Autumn; brother, Rex Ferree with wife Kathie; and Poppy the cat.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel
