Stella is survived by her husband, Francis L. Mahoney; daughter, Gloria Stella Mahoney; brothers, Dr. Luis R. Campana and wife Iraida, Dr. Edgardo Campana's

widow Edith; brother-in-law Bobby R. Mahoney and wife Elena; nephews, Luis R. Campana and wife Monica, Rafael Campana and wife Jodi, Drs. Edgardo Campana and wife Jessica; nieces, Dr. Sara Campana, Ruth Stella Campana, Phyllis McLennan, Barbara Aehlert, Kathy Asta and husband Phillip; as well as many other family members and friends.
November 25, 1951, Stella met Francis Mahoney and he proposed on December 4, 1951. Since he didn't speak Spanish and her parents didn't speak English, a bi-lingual friend asked for her father's permission for Francis to marry Stella and he approved. They had been married 65 years when Stella passed away.
Francis returned to the states for his next assignment, Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Florida, January 2, 1952. Stella followed June 5th and they were married in the base chapel June 9, 1952. Their two children, Gloria and Timothy

were born in the base hospital.
February 1955, the family returned to the Canal Zone, then back to United States assigned to San Antonio, Texas. After another assignment to the Canal Zone and back, they made San Antonio, Texas their permanent home.
During her Civil Service career, Stella was employed by the Inter American Geodetic Survey, Canal Zone Government Central Employment Division, U. S. Army Fort Sam Houston, USAF Recruiting Service and USAF OSI District 10 until her retirement November, 1980.
Stella loved her family and her many friends. She was happiest when singing, dancing, cooking and traveling. Stella and Francis traveled to Chile where they met members of her father's family, Argentina, Spain, Costa Rica and many parts of Mexico.
A Memorial Mass will be held
Friday, July 28, 2017, 11:30 AM
at St John Neumann Catholic Church, 6680 Crestway Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78239. A reception will be held following the mass. All services will conclude at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any memorial donation in Stella's name be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871, 855-345-6237, www.brightfocus.org/alzheimers.
