Smsgt Weikel

SMSGT (retired) Merritt O. Weikel (Mert) passed away on December 8, 2010. He was 78. He was born on December 28, 1932 to Willie Vernon and Eva Thompson Weikel in Wayside, West Virginia. He graduated from Narrows High School, Virginia in 1951. He received his BA degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1981. After High School, he enlisted and served in the USAF for 26.5 years. He retired in 1978 and lived in Live oak, Texas until his passing. Merritt is preceded in death by his parents; son, Donny Weikel and brother, Gene Weikel. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Weikel; sons, David, Douglass and Dicky Weikel; daughter, Dina Fry and sister, Kathleen Garcia. He will be buried at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
