SMSgt Robert Junior Maze passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on February 20, 2015, at his home in Schertz, Texas. He was born November 17, 1932 to Leslie and Ethel (Jones) Maze in Marietta, Ohio. Robert was known to many as "Joe", "Bob" or "Papaw". Robert retired from the United States Air Force, as Senior Master Sergeant, after serving honorably for 21 years. After retirement, he worked for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and also taught at St.Philip's College in San Antonio, Texas. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ethel Maze; 2 grandchildren; brothers, Hugo Maze and Edward Maze; sisters, Delma Wentz and Elodine Shields. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Peggy Maze; daughter, Brenda M. O'Neill of Austin, Texas; sons, Robert A. Maze with wife Elizabeth of Woodlands, Texas, David J. Maze of Schertz, Texas and Dwight M. Maze of Buda, Texas; stepson, Curtis Lansdell of Alexandria, Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and sister, Olive Phillips of Belpre, Ohio. Family will receive friends Monday, March 2, 2015, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015, 11:30AM, at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with United States Air Force honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Children's Hospital of San Antonio for cancer treatment and research.
