A Texas Sunrise, Tuesday February 18, 1947 a Texas Sunset, Saturday October 29, 2016
Simon A. Franco, our beloved Husband/Father/Grandfather went to rest with the Lord. Simon was an extremely hard worker, never complained a moment and never said, "No" to anybody who asked him for help. He worked long hours and at the end of the day ALWAYS worked on home projects at his home and others, usually not getting out of his uniform until late at night. Simon was big on family, sports and doing the right thing. He believed in rules and conservative politics. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and served in the 196 th Light Infantry from 1966-1969. After working for Turbine Support for 19 years, the company closed and he went to work for Fairchild Aerospace and was laid off and they offered him scholarship money to Texas A&M, which he graciously accepted and completed his education (However, he will forever be a UT Austin fan). Since 1998, he has worked for Holt Mechanical vigorously and loyal until the day he died. Simon loved traveling with his wife and his travelling buddies Gilbert De Luna, Larry De Luna and Leroy Saldana often and spontaneously. He was unbelievably affectionate with all his girls, always making sure they were happy and had all that they needed, whether it was physically or emotionally. His wife was the glue and nails that kept the home and family together and he was the brick, roof and the shelter; with GOD as our foundation we will see Simon up in Heaven and we will one day be reunited with him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Anita Franco. Simon leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Josephine Franco; daughters, Michelle Franco-Mejia (Saidif), Monica Franco; two granddaughters Evelyn Franco-Gaytan and Savannah Franco-Burton; seven brothers, Adolph, Refugio, Geronimo, Martin, Jesse, Eusebio, Aurelio; cousin, Lucas Franco and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friend on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00PM - 8:00PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at St. Monica's Catholic Church at 12:30PM with Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
