Shirley Herrmann

Shirley Lee Milam Herrmann, 91, of Windcrest, Texas passed away March 31, 2022. Shirley was born January 19, 1931, in Herrin, Illinois. She graduated from Herrin High School and attended Southern Illinois University until her father’s death. She moved to California with her mother to be with family and later resided in Manhattan Beach, working for North American Aviation. She met her future husband, Lt. Col. Harry Hughes Herrmann while he was a test pilot for North American. They married in April 1956 and raised their children while living in France, Germany, Virginia, California and South Carolina before retiring in Windcrest in January 1971. Shirley was skilled at and loved to sew, crochet and knit. She was also an avid golfer at the Windcrest Golf Club. She and Harry spent many years playing at the course just a block from their home, enjoying and entertaining their friends in the club. After her husband’s death, she was involved in helping raise her much loved grandchildren and enjoying family time together.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Leah Marie Hermann, son Harry Hughes Herrmann, Jr., granddaughter Jenny Herrmann, grandson Cole Tillinghast and granddaughter Taylor Tillinghast, great-granddaughters Paisley and Ellie Tillinghast, nephew Dale Fleming (Carol) and her little dog Coco.
