Scott Hammons
October 31, 1969 — August 9, 2012
Scott Hammons, 42, of Schertz, was called home on August 9, 2012. Scott was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and proud American. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Michelle Hammons and two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Shelby Hammons. Scott was a wonderful son-in-law to John and Carolyn Sulaica, who loved him like their own son. He was a thoughtful brother-in-law to his wifes sister Jaclyn Gilbert and her husband Doug. Scott is preceded in death by his father John Hammons. He is survived by his mother Vicenta Hammons; three brothers, Vincent, Jim (wife Wanda) & John; and two sisters, Molly Thornton (husband Jason) and Harriet Wellman (husband Joe). Scott proudly served our country for 14 years in the United States Air Force. He loved our country and was honored to wear the uniform. More than anything, Scott loved his family. He was a great provider for his wife and girls. He was so proud of both his daughters and all they have accomplished. His family will carry his love with them always. Our Gracious Heavenly Father never stopped pursuing Scott. In May of this year, Scott accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and on May 20th, was baptized at Journey Fellowship Church in Schertz. It gives the family great joy and comfort to know that Scott is with Jesus and that one day we will see him again. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012, at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 9:00am on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
