Sarah Elizabeth Ohlschwager, born on November 6, 1954, passed away on May 25, 2016 at the age of 61. Sarah was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and grew up in Midland, Michigan. She graduated from Burke High School in Omaha, Nebraska and attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE where she earned a bachelor degree in accounting and a minor in German. While attending college, Sarah loved to travel and spent a year traveling thru Switzerland and Germany.
Don and Sarah married in 1993 in Lincoln, NE. In 2003 they moved to New Braunfels, Texas to be closer to family and then moved to Marion in 2006. Sarah loved to work and one of her favorite jobs was working for Bedient Pipe Organ Company in Lincoln, NE. She retired over a year ago to spend more time with Don and to do more of our Lord's work. Sarah was an active member of St John Lutheran Church in Marion. She served on many committees, attended the monthly Bible Study with Peace Circle and loved to sing in the choir. Her talents included knitting, crocheting and quilting. Many delighted in her hats, scarves and afghans. Sarah also loved serving as a team member of Epiphany Ministries of Texas, spending countless hours demonstrating God's message of love, forgiveness and grace to incarcerated youth. She was unable to serve on the team this last April, but her and Don supported the team and the youth by attending the closing ceremony. Her faith and love for her Lord was amazing. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Sarah is preceded in death by parents, Calvin and Lois Wesloh McAlister; sisters, Maggie McAlister, Emily McAlister. She is survived by her loving husband, Don Ohlschwager Jr.; children, Jedidiah "Skip" Thelen and wife Amy of Lincoln, NE; stepdaughters, Kelly Kahoe and husband Mike of Austin,TX, Michelle Bauwens and husband Rodney of Marion, TX, Sarah Gonzalez and husband Refugio of San Antonio, TX; step-son, Robert Ohlschwager and wife Michele of New Braunfels,TX; brother, Calvin McAlister and wife Salena of Yacolt, WA; 18 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews. The visitation will be on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 9:00AM with the funeral service to begin at 11:00AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion, TX. Rev. Dr. David Collins III officiating. Organist for the service will be Ada Sweet and special music by Linda Dreyer. Serving at Pallbearers, Glenn Stroh, Lloyd Weller, Andrew Weller, Tommy Rappmund, Rod Swanson, Dennis Dreyer. The family request any memorial donations be made to St John Lutheran Church and flowers for the service may be delivered to the church.
