Sally Barnes passed peacefully from this earthly life on September 26, 2017 in New Braunfels, Texas. Sally, nee Sarah Windom, eldest daughter of Glenn and Agnes Windom, was born January 16, 1924 in Nodaway, Iowa. She attended technical school in Omaha, Nebraska following graduation from Nodaway high school. Sally was hired as a teletype operator by civil service at Air Service Command in Dayton, Ohio, where she met her future husband, Stanley Barnes, who was enlisted in the Army Air Corps and also stationed in the Air Service Command. They were married in Poteau, Oklahoma, January 6, 1944. To this union were born four children, Larry, Hugh, Glenna, and Keith. Sally was a life-long Methodist and an active member of United Methodist Women for more than 60 years. Sally enjoyed many crafts, traveling by RV during Stan's retirement years, playing games, fishing, golf, bowling, and life in general. Her love of crafts began when her mother taught her to embroider before she started to school. Her many loves were her husband of 64 years, four children and their spouses, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren all of whom survive her. She is also survived by sisters, Beverly O'Riley, Marilyn Wurster, and brother, Dean Windom, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sally was pre-deceased by her husband, Stan, her parents, Glenn and Agnes Windom, a son-in-law, Michael Tweedie, and a grandson, Matthew Tweedie, who died in infancy. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas.
