Sandra "Sandie" Lee Davis passed away on January 30, 2025, after a long battle with COPD. She was born on September 30, 1947, in Pontiac, Michigan, and grew up in New Jersey, attending Roxbury High School as part of the Class of 1965.
She and her husband, Don Davis, built their life together in Dover, NJ, where she worked in healthcare, first as a nurse’s aide at Dover General Hospital and later in home health care. Sandie had a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to helping others, always willing to step in when someone needed care or support.
A lifelong animal lover, she especially adored her dogs, Bo and Jack, and had a passion for horses. She also had a soft spot for elephants and giraffes as reflected by the various knickknacks found all around her house. If she wasn’t outside with her dogs, she was often enjoying a trip to the dollar store, where she found joy in life’s little treasures.
More than anything, Sandie was devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband, Don; her son, Donnie Davis, and his wife, Becky; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Mackenzie, Jack, and Luke; and her great-grandchildren, Hank and Jay. She also leaves behind her brothers, Fred, Scott, and Todd Billingsley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Helen Billingsley.
Sandie had a lively personality—thoughtful, independent, and never afraid to speak her mind. She had a remarkable memory and often checked in on things from years past, recalling details that others might have long forgotten. She cared deeply about the people in her life and wasn’t shy about offering advice, always wanting the best for those she loved. Sandie had a unique way of noticing the little things and making people feel seen, a rare and special gift that our world could use more of.
Her presence will be missed, her stories will be remembered, and her love for family and animals will live on. Her obituary can be found at Schertz Funeral Home with information on the memorial service scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to your local animal shelter, reflecting her love for children and animals
