Ryan Nicholas Pipes passed away on June 1, 2016 at the age of 25. He was born on July 3, 1990 in San Antonio, TX to Jim Pipes and Susan (Bendon) Pipes. From when he was just a young boy, Ryan freely displayed his affection and care for family, friends, animals and even strangers. He lived in the Schertz area most of his life, attending Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Dobie Junior High and graduating among the first class at Steele High School. Ryan was a boy scout for many years and even became the envy of some of the grown men at the deer lease by shooting an eight-point buck on a hunting trip with his father. Ryan loved to skate in his teens and tried to improve his skills all over his neighborhood and the Schertz area. He enjoyed playing paintball with his friends and his brother, begging his parents' for the best paintball gun for a birthday. His other passions included expressing his creativity through playing several instruments, including the guitar, and writing music. He loved animals and was thrilled when his brother Garrett brought home a puppy named Raz that quickly stole the family's heart. Ryan enjoyed discussing the art of films, especially those by his favorite writers and directors - the Coen brothers and Quentin Tarantino. He could discuss the nuances of his favorite scenes with animation and simple pleasure. A whiz on the computer, Ryan was interested in all kinds of technology, and most specifically computer security. He attended Texas State University and majored in Marketing and Advertising, frequently analyzing the success of a particular advertising campaign for his own knowledge. While in school, Ryan joined his father's roofing businesses, coordinating marketing strategies and helping with office duties. Ryan's special gifts were his kind and loving nature and his heart-felt hugs. He never failed to say, "I love you" and cared deeply for his mother, father and big brother. He will be forever missed. Ryan is survived by his loving parents, Jim and Susan Pipes; brother, James Garrett Pipes and his wife Amanda Gangawer; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Schertz Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Funeral service will be held immediately after at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donation be made in Ryan's name to the Schertz Humane Society at www.homesforpets.org or send a check to P.O. Box 605, Schertz, TX 78154.
