Rudy G. Martin passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Garden Ridge, TX. He was born on November 24, 1927 in San Antonio, TX to Juan Galvan Martinez and Maria Gonzalez Martinez. He was very proud of being born two blocks from the Alamo. After graduating from Brackenridge High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. His service included duty in Hawaii, Aruba, Italy and the Pentagon under the Secretary of the Navy. After his retirement he worked at AARP. Rudy enjoyed traveling and a favorite for him was visiting the historic San Antonio missions. He loved Western movies just like his Dad. He missed his two Chihuahuas, Mighty Mite and Deuce. Even during his illness he said they were with him. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Johnny G Martinez and wife Minnie. He is survived by his sister Gloria M. Federico, her husband Ray, their children and grandchildren and brother Gilbert D. Martinez, his wife Juliet, their children and grandchildren and numerous cousins and friends. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Schertz Funeral Home from 4:00PM to 8:00PM with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00PM. Funeral Services will be on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel at 9:30AM with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15AM.
