Rudy M. Gutierrez, born on August 27, 1943, passed away on November 2, 2013, at the age of 79. He honorably served his country in the 4th Infantry Division in the United States Army. Rudy was 1 of 5 famous brothers associated with equestrian in the world of polo. He was instrumental in establishing a polo facility in Chicago and created the Glendale Heights Polo Club. He then moved in to the Chicago Avenue Armory and created a club for indoor polo. Rudy was then sent to Santa Barbara, California and managed the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club. After retiring from polo, he managed the Comfort Suites Hotel in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. Rudy lived a beautiful life and will be dearly missed by his family. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lucille: Daughter, Louise Marie Alfaro and her husband, Edward: grandson, James Robert Alfaro; brothers, Fred, Benny, Willie, and Mike. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 11, 2013, from 6:00 PM-9:00 PM, at Schertz Funeral Home 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, Texas 78154, with a Rosary to be recited @ 7:00PM. The Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 9:30 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 North Evans Road, Selma, Texas 78154. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with United States Army Honors.
