Ruby Nash

June 26, 1938 — March 30, 2019

(Ruby L. Nash was affectionately known as Momma, Ms. Ruby, Ruby, Aunt Ruby, Nunnie, Nun Nun, and Big Momma)

Ruby Lee Nash had a life of 80 beautiful years. She went peacefully to be with the Lord in her home on March 30, 2019. Ruby was born Ruby Lee McClain in Grimes, Texas; to Ruth Pelham and Ennis McClain on June 26, 1938. She was the eldest of three children and attended school in Elgin, Texas. As a youth her hobbies included band and basketball. At an early age, Ruby gave her life to Christ and was baptized by the late Reverend G. M. Relefort at Winn's Memorial Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas. Her faith and belief in Jesus as her Lord and Savior never wavered. No matter where she lived, Ruby maintained an active church fellowship; with her final church home being Resurrection Baptist Church in Schertz, Texas. As a part of this ministry, her time was well spent under the Senior Saints and the leadership of Pastor Ray D. Brown.

On March 21, 1959, Ernest A. Thompson and Ruby L. McClain entered into Holy matrimony and began their family together. Ruby was blessed with five children, three sons and two daughters. She entered the work force early in life; where she began a successful career at the Austin State School in Austin, Texas. Later in life she transitioned to San Antonio, Texas; where she expanded her career in early childhood development at the Eller Austin Development Center. Here is where she realized her passion for teaching. Eventually, the center closed, and she found employment at the San Antonio State Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. During her transition to Austin, she found love again and became Ruby L. Nash. She culminated her career as a Special Education Teacher with the Austin Independent School District. Upon her retirement in 2001; she desired to be closer to her children, which resulted in her relocation to the San Antonio, Texas area.

Ruby was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, sisters, daughter (Ernestine Thompson), other family members, and love ones.

Ruby leaves behind to cherish her memory; her adopted sister, Janice Clemons; children, Yvonda (Earl) Fletcher, Edward Thompson, Van Thompson, and Kirk Thompson; grandchildren, Candice (Adrian) LeSane, Stephanie (Herbert) Jones, Kenton Thompson, Kenyatta (Ernest) Hutchinson, and Patricia Rogers; step grandchildren, Darlene (Arbrie) Williams, Curtis Moore, and Corey Moore; many great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives, and friends.
