Ruby Lucille Havens, 100, of Marion, TX went to her heavenly home, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Rosewood Rehab and Care Center under the care of Suncrest Hospice of San Antonio.
Ruby Lucille Havens was born July 27, 1923, to Johnnie Leslie and Sarah Arizona Whitt in Heavener, Oklahoma. After living in many different places in the U.S., She settled in Roswell, New Mexico where she resided until 2015 when she moved to Marion, TX to reside with her oldest living daughter Juanita Bradshaw.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 3 children, 4 stepchildren, 2 husbands and 1 great grandchild.
She is survived by 1 sister Dorothy Cooley of Clovis, NM; 3 children Juanita Bradshaw of Marion, TX; Ivy (Barbara) Post of Lake Stevens, Washington; and Lisa (Scott) Doyal of Dixon, CA.; 14 Grandchildren; numerous Grandchildren-in laws; 16 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Ruby had gained many friends over the last 8 years and to each of those wonderful friendships, those friendships are precious.
We want to give a special thank you to the following healthcare professionals and businesses for the great care provided to Ruby over the last 6 weeks of her beautiful life: Suncrest Hospice San Antonio – Ida, CNA who made Ruby smile the first day they met and Ruby looked forward to seeing her visit; Tieria, RN who gave Ruby the love and care from the first time she met with her; Emily, SW who was so very quick to help get Ruby’s needs met when she was on the decline; and Lou, Director of Clinical Services, who fell in love with Ruby from day one and took the time to understand what Ruby needed as well as the family. To the rest of the Suncrest family, the outpouring of love and care from the entire team.
To Rosewood Rehab and Care Center: thank you Melinda, Admissions Director for being so quick to get Ruby into your facility when she needed it the most; Ruby, LVN who will remain special because she shared the same name and made sure all Ruby’s need were met. Gilbert, LVN who helped to get Ruby comfortable when she was restless. To all the staff at Rosewood, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the care you gave our precious Ruby.
She was dearly loved and made many new friends, and she never knew a stranger. Ruby loved reading, tending to plants, feeding the birds, feeding the cats, and most of all loved doing word and number finds.

Serving as pallbearers are Wayland Bradshaw, John Bradshaw, Brown Zavala, Roland Castro, Jacob Bradshaw, James Gonzalez, and Zach Cockerham.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 18, 2023, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. at Schertz Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Kingsbury Cemetery, in Kingsbury, TX.
Ruby Lucille’s celebration of life will be at The American Legion Post 593 in Converse, TX after Interment in Kingsbury.
