Rosie Gutierrez

Rosie R. Gutierrez, age 84 of Schertz, passed away on September 22, 2010. She was born to Manuel & Josephine Ramos on March 11, 1926. Rosie is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gutierrez, Sr. She is survived by her children, Minnie G. Michalski, Henry Gutierrez, Jr., Christine G. Syphers, Jerome A. Gutierrez, Dolores J. Toepperwein, and Mercedez Annie Gutierrez; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, family and friends. Rosie has been a part of the Schertz community since 1946. Rosie and Henry, Sr. were the owners and operators of the original garbage collection services in the Greater Randolph Metrocom. Their business grew and with continual growth of the area, they continued progressive innovations in the solid waste collection business. The present locally owned solid waste provider, Bexar Waste, is still in the Gutierrez Family, and continues certain operations on FM 3009 in Schertz, the original start-up location in the early 1960s. In 1998, Gutierrez Park was named and dedicated to Henry, Sr. and Rosie on W. Borgfeld Rd. in Schertz. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Schertz Funeral Home. A Mass will be Celebrated at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
