Rosemary Gonser
March 26, 1920 — June 6, 2011
Rosemary Aaron Gonser passed away on June 6, 2011. She was born and raised near Leavenworth, Kansas. Rosemary worked during WWII as a medical secretary with the Veterans Administration. After the war, she married Dr. Karl B. Gonser and they moved to Sedalia, Missouri, to start his medical practice. They lived for many years on the corner of Broadway and Warren where apartment buildings now stand. Rosemary raised her three children and was active in Sacred Heart Parish and School. She also was employed in the early 1970s by Bothwell Hospital Medical Records section. In her later years, Rosemary moved to be near her children in Dallas, Texas, and in Camarillo, California where she lived for 18 years. She moved to the San Antonio area in 2007 and lived independently to age 91. Grandma Rosie, as she was known to many, loved helping her large group of family and friends. She could care for a new baby or paint an interior wall with equal skill. Her personal style and wit were admired by many. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all. She was predeceased by her parents, Ella and Leo Aaron; her husband, Karl Barnard Gonser in 1971; a son, K. Edward Gonser in 1993; brother, Byron Aaron and sisters Virginia Miller and Josephine Montgomery. She is survived by siblings, Ellen Harvey, Rita Finn and Lee Aaron; by her daughters, Amelia (Paul) Schoenenberger and Janet (Bill) Fillman and by grandchildren, Doug (Lara) Schoenenberger, Marcus (Mandy) Schoenenberger, Kelly (Ian) Phillips, Chad Gonser, Evan (Nicole) Fillman and Kara Fillman. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, June 10th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Selma, Texas. Viewing will be at 9:30 with a Rosary at 10:20 and Mass to follow. Burial will occur at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio.
