Rolland Henry Roth Jr., known fondly as Randy, Dad, Papa, and Chief, passed away on November 3, 2024, in Cibolo, Texas. He was born on October 10, 1960, in Port Hueneme, California to his parents Rolland H. Roth and Joan Gail Roth. He spent his life dedicated to his family and country and was known as a True Patriot. Randy began his life as a military brat and then proudly followed his father and grandfathers’ footsteps by devoting 23 years, 6 months in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He served with 3 deployments to Operations DESERT STORM, ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. With his proven dedication, he proudly earned 17 Awards and Decorations. Some of the honors he received include Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Global War on Terror, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal and 3 Meritorious Service Medals. He continued his career in Civil Service as a Deputy Division Chief for Small Arms and Munitions. Renowned for his leadership and mentorship, Randy encouraged those around him to excel in their careers, leaving a lasting impact on many. A man of many interests, he found joy in and loved jamming to rock music, dancing with the love of his life, Rolanda, in the living room, and could often be found working on his motorcycles and gunsmithing. Some favorite pastimes included target shooting, building computers, savoring Jessica’s homecooked meals, and devouring Grammy's fried chicken. Spending Christmas holidays at his sister’s home in Arizona was an annual tradition he looked forward to each year. Randy’s number one passion was being a devoted family man who cherished all moments and times with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed tinkering and fixing their toys.
Randy’s personality was defined by his empathy, honesty, and kindness. He taught his children to always do the right thing and was always there to help anyone in need. He was a true animal lover and had a unique trait of being red-green colorblind. He had an aversion to the sound of others eating. He loved family gatherings, but often turned the volume up on the TV as conversations grew louder. His love for nature brought him peace, and he thrived in the great outdoors. Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Rolanda Roth; children Jessica Chappell (Matthew), Kyle Roth (Virginia), Sarah VanGeest (Jerrad), and Rebekah Roth (Nathan); and grandchildren Maddie (Tyler), Aaron, Caleb, Eliana, Kota, KJ, Valerie, Eli, Adaline, Noah, and Mia. He is also survived by his mother, Joan Roth; sister, Donna McCarthy (Kent); and many aunts, uncles, and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Rolland H. Roth, and granddaughter, Hailee Elise Chappell. A Christian man, he lived by the motto, "It's not okay, but it's all gonna be alright," and often reminded those around him to "lighten the hell up." Rolland Henry Roth Jr. will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him, especially for his unwavering love for family and his infectious spirit.
