Roger Casillas

Roger A. Casillas, born on July 6 1933, in San Antonio, TX, passed away on March 6, 2017 in Windcrest, TX, at the age of 83. He was adopted at birth by Roberto Casillas and Felicitas Sanchez and was raised in San Antonio, TX. Roger attended South San High School after which he enlisted into the US Army in the year of 1953. He was a combat veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam conflict and also served overseas tour in France, Thailand, and Germany. Roger retired from the Army in 1980 as a 1SG (First Sergeant), from there he went on to be the service manager for Firestone and then started a Civil Service career. He is preceded in death by his parents Roberto and Felicitas Casillas and his step-mother Dominga Casillas. He is survived by his wife Gina Casillas, and their son Roger A. Casillas II. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Schertz Funeral Home from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 16, 2017, 9:00am at the St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 6680 Crestway Dr. San Antonio, TX 78239, with the interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full US Army honors.
