Roberta Dilworth
October 27, 1942 — February 7, 2009
Roberta "Bobbie" Gail Dilworth was born on October 27, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert J. and Dorothy Lewis. Roberta married the love of her life, David Dilworth, on May 12, 1962 in Van Nuys, California. They had 30 wonderful years filled with love and affection. After Daves passing she again fell in love with a dear family friend, Hank Malone. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with both of their families during the retirement years they each independently dreamed of. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend to all. She had many odd jobs through life and started her first company, Fancy Fabric Frames, with her best friend Mary Lou, although most knew it was just a way for the two of them to drive around the hill country together visiting antique and collectible shops. Bobbie, as she was commonly known, worked for years in the San Antonio area as an EMT/Paramedic and teaching others to be many different levels of emergency care providers. She was one of the first paramedics for SAFES(Schertz Area Facilities for Emergency Services), back when it was an all volunteer organization, and went on to serve on the board of directors of SAFES for many years. She was known to many as the blonde lady from SAFES flying down the road to a call. She has taught EMT to paramedic level courses for: SAFES, Schertz EMS, Seguin EMS/Fire, Bulverde/Spring Branch EMS, Metro Ambulance, Airlife, Kendall County EMS, San Antonio College, La Vernia EMS, Luling EMS, Cotulla EMS, Harper EMS, Floresville EMS, Bracken VFD, St. Hedwig VFD, Universal City FD, Converse FD, Kirby FD, Selma FD, Live Oak FD, Alamo Heights FD, Fort Sam Houston FD, Randolph AFB FD, The University of Texas Health Science Center and countless others. She lectured at many regional, state and national level EMS meetings. For 7 years she worked as a civilian contractor at the SOMED(Special Operations Medical Education Department) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and developed a program to allow the special forces medics to become certified paramedics during their training. She took special pride in training our military elite special forces, rangers, seals, and PJ's during this time. Bobbie later started her own company MEDIC (Medical Education Dedicated to Industry and Community) and the development of this company allowed her to teach CPR, First Aid and Emergency Care Attendant classes to: local schools, churches, dental and medical offices, fitness centers, Motorola, SMI, Fiesta Texas, Sea World, various oil companies in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana and many more places. Through her dedication to our military and community, Bobbie has touched many lives with her actions and teaching. An entire generation of first responders in the San Antonio area have had the opportunity to be taught, at some level, by Bobbie and one can only imagine the number of patients whose lives have been affected and their outcomes improved by her directly or indirectly through the care, compassion, and knowledge that she extended to others. Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, LTC. David J. Dilworth. She is survived by her son, Donald Dilworth M.D. & wife Patti of Schertz, daughters Dee White & husband, Tom of Cibolo and Shelly Housley & husband, Steve of Cibolo; brother, Donald Lewis & wife, Kathy of Denver; grandchildren, Courtney White, Travis White, Randy Housley, Krystle Housley, Stephanie Housley, Kayleigh Dilworth, Ashtyn Dilworth and Kassen Dilworth; her loving companion & friend, Hank Malone and numerous nieces, nephews, family & friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:22 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Schertz First Baptist Church with Pastor Judith Sellers officiating.
